One of my favourite things to photograph is a big family get together on a bright Summer’s day. Kids running around in their party clothes, adults letting their hair down, the smell of the BBQ, bunting and balloons swaying in the breeze… bliss! I think we all feel a little bit more grateful for time spent with extended family after the whole covid-thing, and to see three or more generations all enjoying themselves makes my heart happy.
Put the phone camera away and enjoy yourself!
As a mum I know what it is like to be torn between being ‘in the moment’ at a family event and trying to preserve the memory for the family album. You know that moment when it is cake time and you don’t know whether to carry the cake out, record a video of everyone singing or get a lovely blowing-out-the-candles photo?
That is the joy of inviting someone else along to take the photos! You get to relax and really enjoy time with your loved ones, and you still have beautiful photos to remember the day by.
